GM Top Cylinder cleaner - why do instructions say to...
Disconnect the A.I.R. system from the catalytic converter before using. I mean, the only thing it is doing is introducing a little air into the cat. Is this stuff volitile enought to ignite in the cat with the extra oxygen or something? Anyway, easiest way would be to just disconnect smog pump pulley when doing, just wondering.
And, instead of pouring the cleaner down the carb/tbi like instructed (kind of hard with two tbi's on a xfire), plan on letting it be sucked through the manifold/pcv connection. Work?

Don't know the part number. Thinking about using it anyway. Should really be no different that other upper cylinder cleaners that I have seen being fed in throught the pcv valve connection or even the brake power booster connector. Don't take off AIR system on those either.

I used Top end cleaner twice and didn't have any luck with it.
I knew why when the heads came off.
1/8 of an inch of carbon on my valves!

I have tried several times to tell folks that all that stuff is snake oil,but it seems that they continue to believe in magic.

I've read here a few guys pouring cold water down the carb for the same effect as the GM stuff.
I don't remember exactly how but I've read it here.
Until one of those gentlemen reply....don't try this at home.

Larry,I have read those responces also.I think that it is wishful thinking on those people part.It takes a long time to build up those deposits on the valves and pistons.Do you really think that there is a product out there that will desolve those rock hard deposits in a couple minutes. They put cleaners in gasoline and you still get build up.Besides all those deposits will do is raise the compression some and give you hot spots that can cause dieseling.I also have seen on my engine some build up on the flow side of the valve. That might hurt your flow numbers a little, but on a street car I do not think you would be able to tell. :chevy
