I need help here, pics would be very good. I know I need to weld it to the frame but How and where.

Smokedtires,
Your install looks very clean. Do you have any other pictures? Do you have enough room to put your tops in the back with the bar there? Did you cut holes in the floor for both the front mount and the rear mount?

I hadn't seen your install in a long time, and I was thinking it would require more tear up. After seeing yours again, it has me thinking this would also be a good idea.

Thanks
Ken

Smokedtires I would like to see the lower bar, the one where the seat belts are mounted higher up. I would want it just below the lower edge of the rear window. This would allow the back deck space to be usefull. Well as useful as possible. By having the bar down lower you are blocking off this space.
Also your shoulder harness attachment points should be almost shoulder height to work the best.
This is an example of a higher bar leaving the rear deck almost untouched.

*gasp!* your going to modify a classic vette????
why, the NCRS people are going to search for you, flog you, take away your vette and make you drive a '98 prelude with a big wing!
oh no, next thing you'll be asking if anybody has put larger than stock tires on.
oh worry, oh fret...

turtle, i've had the z for a couple years now. the most progress i've made on it is i had it on my trailer at one time.
you can't see it in my signature pic but i at least have a harness bar. that's not saying much but i guess part of keeping the car off the roof is keeping the a$$ in the seat.

FYI - with a roll bar the back window won't be removable anymore

Are you sure? If you can read a tape, you can make it work.

It is tight..the snaps at the top that buckle the window down tight...clear the bar by thousandths. I mean "feeler gauge" close. On the plus side, I have a couple inches to get the battery out.

I can get my rear window out still also, but I planned ahead and made sure the roll bar was designed and installed such that I could still get the window out. To make it easier though I trimmed the locator prongs on the window down to almost nothing, and I take the window out from the outside rather than from the inside.

That's great news 30cal & 69autoX
I previously emailed a couple of rollbar companies & they said no. I think I-O Port was one of them. I didn't want to loose my removable back window - coolest working feature of my car.

Mine was custom bent buy a local guy, so I was able to tell him how I wanted it. I think that's the way to go over some kind of a kit that a company would market.

Thanks for the photos and comments guys. I see that all of you mounted the roll bar in the rear compartment. My bar, the main hoop goes all the way down to the floor behind the seat and mount to the triangle piece of frame that ties the rear frame to the front. I am a tall 6.2 dude so i must move the seats to the center more to clear the bar, so the seat goes all the way back.
Did anyone use this type of bar, like to see more pics, thanks
