Default '77 L-82 Exhaust Question

I need to purchase the front & rear 'Y' pipe sections for my '77 L-82. The L-82 exhaust at the manifold started at 2", but then was larger at 2 1/2" the remainder of the pipe. I see that most all of the aftermarket vendors sell these pipes, but they're for 'all' '77's, which means a standard L-48, 2" exhaust. Can anyone tell me who sells the correct, larger diameter L-82 front/rear 'Y' pipes? They do offer 2 different 'Y' pipes (L-48 & L-82) for the '78 & '79's. I wonder if I should just order the '78 L-82 pipes for my '77, as I'm sure there wasn't much difference if any.... Thanks!!

According to My reference books the 77 L48 and L82 and the 78
L48 used the same 2inch system with only the 78 L82 receiving the
2 1/2 inch which then carried over to 79 for both L48 &L82 engines,
which is what I think You pointed out. Anytime You can increase the
exhaust flow with larger piping, thats the way to go therefore I would
use the 78 L82-79 system.I installed 2 1/2 inch true duals on My 77
and 79 and it really made a difference in performance. I wonder if You
go to the 2 1/2 inch system, will it bolt up to Your present converter?

I believe I have an original stock Y pipe and catalytic converter in excellent shape from my 79 L-82 in the basement. It is late now, tomorrow I will measure the diameter of the pipes to confirm and post a reply.
