Here's what I did. I used the huggers so that I would have a location for an O2 sensor. (I also needed 1-7/8 sized tubes).

Hedman makes both sbc & BBC headers specifically for side pipes ... they turn out specifically for sidepipes ... uncoated sbc under $140 at summit. SBC P/N 68280 http://www.hedman.com/pages/popular-photos/68280.tif
