Default Transmission Identification

Hello,

I uuh have this transmission laying around and I really don't know what it is for sure. I think it's a 700R4 but I really don't know.

Any help?

These are the only numbers I found stamped on it and they're stamped right below where the shop rag is in that first pic.

Here is a picture of the other side.

There's a sticker on the torque converter that has the number 8653081 DBCF.

Those were the only identifying numbers on it (besides the stenciled SCHOOL??)

The guy that gave it to me claimed that it was out of a C4.

Any help would be appreciated.

Zachary,
My guess is that it is a 700r4,because of the square shaped pan.

On my tranny, the ID stamp is on the buttom right side(if you are standing in front of it) about halfway back, try wiping the dirt from the area, maybe it's there?

I don't have my references with but the second set of numbers appears to be the casting number for the tranny case with a date code underneath...I suspect.

A VIN derivative along with some assembly production codes should be along the bottom on the driver's side of my memory serves right. You may have to wipe some of the caked up grease/grime away to reveal them.

Look at the shape of the pan bolt pattern and compare it to any on line catalog that sells gaskets. Looks to be 700r4 out of C4 or F-body as it has the tailhousing to accept the torsion arm.

What he said.

Looks like an 85 case casting date, which would not be desirable. 88 up is better.

Well, I intend to get a 2004R for my new transmission to replace the dead 3 speed in there, desirability is trumped by just knowing what it is so I can acurately describe it when I attempt to sell it to someone who will put it to better use than I am going to. (I'm sure my clothes dryer will miss the company? )

I believe so, a 3 or 4 pin white connector?

I can take a picture of it if that would help.
