tires measures
there are some tires, mainly racing tires, that have another sistem of measuring (for example 25.50x15.50x15...etc etc) which i dont understand, could you tell me to what figures corrspond on the other sistem the sizes 275/50/15 and 275/60/15? thanks/Giu
in 25.50x15.50x15
the 25.50 is the outside diameter of the tire
the 15.5 is the width of the tire (tread or total width, I don't know?)
the 15 is of course the wheel diameter.
wheras in 275/50/15
275 is the tread width
15 is again the wheel diameter
and 50 is the 'aspect ratio' of the sidewall. A 50-series 275 will have a proportionally taller sidewall that a 50-series 255.
The inch system is nice and straightforward but the latter system seems to be the standard for just about everything but some race tires.
