44th week of 1972. The letters represent days of the week, with "E" being Friday. But in Restoration Guide by Richard Prince, he casts some doubt on the lettering since a majority of belts have an "E" on them.

I have a " 32 B 70 " on mine, so I guess they did make some on a Tuesday. And while we're talking seat belts, I'm attempting to re-fab the belt tags, but can't read all of one tag. It reads ".... DO NOT USE IF WEARER IS LESS THAN 4 FEET ???? TALL ????????? " . Can anyone help fill in the blanks? Thx.

Default Seat belt dating numbers/letters.

Mark,

Here's from the 1970-1972 Corvette Judging Manual(NCRS)

The first number is the week.
In your case "44"

The second letter is the day.
In your case "E"

The third set of numbers is the year.
In your case "72"

These numbers/letters are the same for both the shoulder and lap belts.

Also my shoulder belts are dated 13 B 72...so you see that there ARE different letters besides E.

Again...ALL this information is out of a NCRS manual.

Dave
