had no replys on the first post, could someone recommend a book or manual
that would point out a part # or what ever that shows what these red wires
gets connected to? this box is a mess.....thanks.....jbh
Don't know what "red wires" you're talking about. The only original red wire in my battery compartment is for the positive lead which runs to the starter. In my case I do have another "Red" wire which runs to my subwoofer in the back.
Do you have an aftermakter stereo in the car that some previous owner installed. If so, I would guess that's what there for. Other than that, I'd need some more info to help out.
Hi Joe, I have 3 red wires- 1 heavier gauge and 2 small wires, they run to the
front driver side, there is some type of metal contraption they were connected
to on the right side of the box,it's so rusted it fell apart and yes i have an after market stereo...thanks ...jbh
On my 80 there's a smaller red wire that you're referring to that goes from the battery post to a heat sink on the side wall. I think this wire drives all the electrical components (except the starter).
Paul, I think the 79 is differant then the 82? I'm haveing all types of electrical
problems since this piece on the right side of the box fell apart, I sent away for a shop manual & aim, thanks for the replys...jim
As I recall there's a bolt coming into the compartment. The heat sink is on the bottom, then the small wire from the battery and the small wire that leaves the compartment are attached via a nylon locking nut. Nothing else is connected. I'm not sure if the heat sink is electrically isolated from the positive connector. I'll take a look at it tomorrow.
Of course this is assuming the 82 is the same as an 80.
