Default need help with new supercharger

Im thinking of installing a 871 supercharger on my 69 454 vette, is there any clearance problems with the blower snout and the radiator or distributor. Is there anything I need to know or buy or rig when I do this. Thanks.

i fit a mallory in there but there wasn't a lot of extra room.for the radiator etc stuff you will have to wait for someone like norvil to come along and answer. or you can do a search on his name. that 871 is big man. i think you at least are going to have to figure on moving all your accs.

Good professional blower advice/tips/FAQ's here:

871 is big, you'll probably need high-strength, lower compression pistons, a blower-grind cam & a real good radiator ... dunno if your 69 dist will fit w/871 ... 671 probably a plenty for street 454.

I used a 2" gilmer belt setup (1/2" pitch), with pulleys 2 1/2" wide. My snout is 5 7/8" long. Running triple V-belt pulleys on the harmonic damper.

I am running a 6-71 GMC blower, on top of a Weiand intake. Custom idler pulley support.

With the 2" belt, I have about 1 1/4" of clearance from the front of the belt to the back of the radiator support. It's close, but not so close as to be scary. Alternator hooks up with no alignment issues, haven't hooked up the PS pump yet, but it looks like it'll be fine, too...

I installed a Mallory Hy-fire distributor, have plenty of clearance (fitting the control box into the engine compartment was a chore, though ).

I'm curious- why run an 8-71 blower? Unless your engine is seriously built to handle the monster flow that an 8-71 can pump in, a 6-71 will be more than sufficient, and give you a bit more room to work with, in the engine compartment....
