I was having fuel starvation problems on my '75 so after eliminating the fuel pump, filter and lines I pulled the gas tank. I found that the float baffle had broken free and was wedged under the fuel pickup screen restricting the flow (I think). The problem is that while I was examining the screen it crumbled in my hands. Does anyone know of a replacement? Could I just run without a screen but put a high capacity line filter before the fuel pump? BTW, the inside of the tank was extremely clean although this is the first time I looked inside of one.
Is this what you are looking for? This is from Eckler's, but no part for a 75 is shown, guess it is different. It is priced at $9.99. You might call them for what you need.
The above photo of the Ecklers part looks like what many of the Corvette supply houses sell. Yes, they deteriorate with age. The one on my 68 crumbled in my hands.
I have installed a new gas tank fuel gauge filter. But I also have added an electric fuel pump and a cannister fuel filter. I decided to re-install a replacement factory fuel gauge filter since they do seem to last 30 years and they do keep grossly large objects from entering the fuel line. My newly added non-stock cannister filter has a 10 micron rating. (It's an Aeromotive)
