Default talked to a lunati tech

about whether i needed to install new valve springs with this voodoo cam; dur. .050 219/222 with a lift of .530/.542, told him i had dbl springs on my BB now. his response was it was kind of hard to bind those springs but to break in the cam with only one spring. what are your feelings on this and what springs would you recommend...

I break in my cams with only the outer spring. It may not be needed but why not. It puts less pressure on the cam. Just don't rev it up to high. I drove the car at low rpm for a few miles before putting the inner spring back in. It can't hurt and does not take that long.

I'm seriously looking at the hydraulic Voodoo line for my 406 build. I like the roller profiles too. Looking at profiles similar to what you've picked, so let us know how you like it...

Lunati has a very good tech. staff. I talked to them when i was looking for a camshaft, They gave me all the information i needed, and were very helpfull. I chose the Lunati Vodoo 468" Lift With 221/229 Duration at .050" I think i forgot the duration.
Sadly its still in my closet waitin to be installed, Currently its to cold out to work on it, and waitin for my dad to let me bring my car into the garage and work on it.
Let me know how you liked you vodoo cam, ill post about mine once i install it.

IMO, Lunati is one of the better damn cam companies out there...

when they speak, pay attention....

(assuming their tech staff is STILL up to speed)....

Cam manufacturers usually recommend a specific spring ( open #, closed # coil bind, installed height etc ) I cannot understand why a technical support person from a cam manufacturer would tell you to go ahead and use the current springs on the heads based on the description of them being "dbl springs"

Double springs can range from 200 to over 800lbs open pressure and without at least knowing the open and closed pressure and coil bind no one should be telling you to go ahead and use them with a new cam.

Sorry if I am missing something here.
