if the master cylinder wasn't bench bled could this cause a seal break between brake booster and m/c? I'm not sure i did it right the first time but this is my second mastercylinder and even though there is fluid in the front driver-side wheel most of the fluid leak indicated that it's coming from the m/c area. Any ideas? i'll post pictures of the leak later.

I disassemble all C2/C3 master cylinders before I install them. They rust internally while sitting on the shelf waiting to be adopted.
I have had a very high incidence of internally rusty -new- and rebuilt master cylinders.
The rust will cause the internal seals to fail & leak. This leak is seen between the M/C and the booster, or between the M/C and the firewall.
I only replace when the M/C is too bad to rebuild.
Or, what is more commonly known as a flair nut wrench if he wasn't referring to the saucy vixen. Besides, Tom has pointed you in the right direction.
Lying Wench!
Frank,
If master should ever leak it's bad!
But I seriously doubt that not properly bench bleeding would cause it.
One thing to think about though is make sure you are not just seeing splashing from pumping the brakes with the master clyinder off!
You will get brake fluid dripping all over if you have air in the lines and pump the brakes with the MC cover off...

I have bought a re-built MC that leaked out the rear seal after the 1st press of the pedal. Fluid ran down the booster where the MC bolts on. Eventually the booster went bad from the fluid invading inside the booster. Now I only buy NEW brake parts...no more Autozone junk ! Autozone is a pretty good OIL STORE, just don't buy any auto parts there. I love it when the parts counter boy is tapping on the computer keyboard and ask if my 72 Vette is 2 wheel or 4 wheel drive -- gas or diesel -- all while "looking" for a box of AC R44T's..
