I've got an 82CE still have the crossfire setup.I don't think there's much out there for these engines. The guy I bought mine from had the 700R4 gone through and had all the upgrades put in,also put in a shift kit.Changed out the exhaust and went with 2 1/2" SS duals(no cats)got the K&N pretty much what you have. One question I have for you is,Why did you take the WOT stuff off for.If it makes a difference I'll do the same!!I'll just if you don't mind.I want to know the samething.

I ended up removing mine also. It only makes sense to have a steady source of air feeding the engine.

My '82 is all stock but still is fast enough to get me in trouble !
I was thinking of replacing the mufflers with some flowmasters eventually.

It's seemed to me like a cold air intake efect . because that flap is closed unless at wot , otherwise the only air getting is the hot engine air comming in through the small driver side intake on the air cleaner .. By taking WOT flap in the hood out that brings more cold air from the front made mine breath a whole lot better.. If you you look at it it's like a ram air efect going right into the intake. Just my 2 cent's but by doing this doesn't cost a dime and every little bit counts .

Yank the exhaust, all of it! Then when it's in the trash spit on it! Get some long tubes and 2 1/2" true duals.

I yanked all of my exhaust out on my 82 from headers back, no cats. Im pretty sure I have flowtech headers to a custom made 2.5" exhaust to a pair of dynomax mufflers, true duals. It has a very low, deep idle, noticable but not to loud or throaty, a good mean sound. At WOT, however, it sounds like a freakin' race car and couldn't ask for more. You will notice a MAJOR difference once you get new exhaust on that car...

You guys didn't loose low end TQ with true duals with no cat? Due to less back pressure - exhaust scavaging?

I read somewhere on the net about enlarging the (throttle body?) crossfire to allow more air to flow into the engine. Other mods were needed of course but I can't remember much more. Do a search on the web or try the crossfire forum. If my memory serves me correctly they used their existing system just machined it to a bigger bore. Then added fuel etc. Cheap mods that add up to much are hard to find.
