Default reverse flow water pump ??

Looking at these serpentine systems they contain a REVERSE flow water pump and GM TYPE 2 power steering pump. Will this change my setup in my 73?? What does that mean?

The way that a sepr. belt is routed around the wp pulley makes the wp turn the opposite direction than our v-belt driven pumps do. The only problem that I see with using a rev. flow pump is if you are still using a mechanical fan, you will have to use one made for the reverse flow pump. A "normal" fan will try to blow air through the raidiator since it will be turning in the opposite direction that it is designed for.

These use a reverse rotation water pump. The GEN II SBC had a reverse flow. Different beast. Just means that the water flows the same but the pump spins opposite what is traditional.

GREAT! so if I am using electric fans then no problem? What about the GM type 2 PS pump, will it work easily with my PS cylinder?

The water pump turns counter clock wise instead of clock wise rotation. The blades inside the pump are designed to pump water in the direction the belt turns the the pump.
I did the swap on my 84 TA when I used Vortec heads on the new motor. You must use the reverse rotation pump with the new setup. They cost the same.

Get a L98 aluminum H2O pump, it bolts right on, is set-up for reverse rotation, and is aluminum too.

My question was concerning a March pulley set-up that I am getting ready to order for my 454 transplant. Will there be any problem with the reverse pump and the type 2 PS pump????

I'm going to use the GMPP Serpentine kit on my ZZ4 which I am installing in a 1968 Corvette.

The Serpentine kit PS pump has a metric "O" ringed output high pressure port. Your stock C3 high pressure output lines, with english threads, will not fit. You can buy a brass adapter plug to adapt the old english thread high pressure fittings to the new metric O ring output port. Actually i had a custom made high pressure hose made to directly mate the new Power Steering outlet to the old stock PS regulator valve.

If you use a GMPP Serpentine kit, the kit will move your PS pump about an inch forward. When I had my custom
made hose built, I had it made about an inch longer.

The brass adapter plug cost about $10.00 (?). The custom made hose costs about $70.00.
