It really was not a bad job. It just takes time and patience. I'm happy to assist anyone that is planning on doing this job. The biggest problem is removing the dash panel because of its tendency to crack when pulling it out- very brittle. I did crack mine a little bit but its not too bad.
Question: Where do you guys like to buy your replacement cores from??
Autozone- $35.99
Napa- $57.00
O'Reilly- $35.99
Obviously I want a good one that won't throw up in the car
Make sure you check all your vacuum lines and actuators while you are in there. You don't want to do this twice. And the Dash goes back in alot easier than it comes out.pulling the Dash out was the worst part I found.
Oh yeah,I got mine from NAPA.Check to make sure they match, mine was off slightly, but works ok for a driver.
If your heater core has a clamp that holds the two tubes in place, make sure the heater core fits snug in the housing. A lot of aftermarket heater cores have output tubes that are not formed correctly and the stress from the clamp will cause them to leak.
You can get a hand held vacuum pump from any auto parts houses. Get the plastic one, I think they are $15-20.
