Default Ground clearance with headers

Well I got the headers on the LS-4 earlier this week, looks to be a little over 4.5" of ground clearnace to the header flange. I got the rest of the exhuast hooked up to the headers on Tuesday, I'll be taking it back since the passenger side has a real nasty crimp in it right after the header :( . Anyway just wondering what some others have for ground clearance and if I should worry about speed bumps etc.

thanks
Pat Kunz

4.5" from lowest point of header to ground? That sounds like a lot to me!! I think I have less with my regular exhaust pipe. You would always want to go over speed bumps extremely slowly. I approach at an angle so go over almost 1 wheel at a time, and so slowly sometimes I dont make it and roll backwards on the first attempt. MJ

Pat

About the same as mine. No problems.
Since the headers point down some, make the upturn in the widest part of the reducer & the header flange will be the lowest point.

MJ

Give it much more gas !

Yes, you have to be careful, especially on the back roads, some slight dips can scrape (I know :( ) But, 4.5" seems like great clearance for headers

Mine touches everything.....I'm going to take her in and have them shave off the lower pointed tip that's nicking everything above the pavement surface. I have to be very aware of every bump or curb I climb........Talk about low?......Sparks fly from my knuckles as I cruise by the pool hall at night.... [IMG][/IMG]

I don't have my car back down on all fours yet from suspension and headers etc, but it appears that I will lose about one inch from before. Give me about 4 inches ground clearance.

I have (had) 4 1/2" clearance from the bottom of the header flange and had no problems with speed bumps, just dips in the road. I just installed heavier front springs so we'll see if that fixes the dip prob (the new spring only gives me 4" clearance, but is tighter).

4.5" ... I'm jealous.

I just got my new 17" wheels on and I have a modified suspension ... guess what my ground clearance is.

Give up? 3.2 INCHES WAHOO! Does this mean I win?

Thanks everyone for your replies, I was glad to see the ground clearance as much as it was after hearing all the horror stories before about dragging them on everything.
