Dropped base air filter assy
I've been using an Edelbrock drop base chrome filter assy for years, since my stroker was put in. It is 14" x 3 and fit fine with a few different carbs.
But now, I've put a 3/8 spacer under the carb for heat insulation. Guess what? The base of the air cleaner now hits the plug wires and the top hits the hood.
So it's back to square one finding one to fit. Anyone have part numbers for a 12" one with drop base that will clear the '76 hood using a spacer under the carb?
1 1/4" is the biggest that I've seen. How much of a drop is yours? And if you want to keep your spacer real bad go with a 14x2 air cleaner and an extreme flow top, but you might run into suction problems with a 2" air filter and a drop base. Or forget the drop and bust out a sawzall.

Yea I'd like to let it breathe out the sides, not top (hood insulation would clog that part quickly)
I'm not sure I know how to measure the amount of the drop base?
