Corz, IMO reguardless of the year, I fount it SO much easier to cut the shroud on each side, horizontally to make a top and bottom 1/2, you will need pop the fan off at any rate, then it thing slides/hooks in place easy....to hold it back together, I put two tabs of aluminum bar on the lower 1/2 and slide the upper into place, all it does is hold it in line sufficient to function well.....
Just did this yesterday on my 79. If you have A/C remove the belt. Remove the fan and fan clutch assembly. Slide the shroud in, extra hands are helpful here, make sure you locate the bottom shroud tabs in the slots in the radiator support. Mind the radiator cooling fins. Reinstall fan/clutch and check for fan to shroud clearance. Hope that helps!
if you dont want the HACK your expensive shroud you have to put the whole thing as an assembley I tried it wont work anyother way. I aint hacking up a 350 dollar shroud the PO did thats why I had to buy a new one
