Need help with gear reduction starter
I have tried to mount two different gear reduction starters on my BB with Hooker side pipe headers. Neither one would clear the #2 header pipe. You can see in the picture how close the stock starter is but at least it clears. The main body of the gear reduction starters I have tried stick out farther from the block than the stock starter. Anyone running a gear reduction starter on a BB with Hooker side pipe headers? I would like to find one that fits for the weight reduction.

The BB502 starter? Any parts store should have a remanned one.

I have a remanned Delco from AutoZone in my '77 - it's a great little starter. Not cheap, but it should outlast the rest of the car.
