As I stated in an earlier post, this all started with deciding to change my shocks. When I got to the rear, one of the shock mounts was stripped so I had to remove it.
As I was doing this, I noticed some loose/missing bolts on one of the halfshafts. Closer inspection showed all of them were loose (both sides) Bubba had installed french locks and then put lock washers on top of them so that the french locks could not fully engage.
I decided to go ahead and pull the halfshafts and clean/repaint them while waiting for new shock mounts to arrive.
As I was pulling them, I noticed one felt thinner than the other so I "miked" them with a c-clamp.
Sure enough, it appears one is a 2.5" and one is a 3".
So far I hadn't noticed any issues driving the car like this, but I am concerned that this may cause problems. If I could, I would just order two new ones right now but that isn't in the budget.
Can anyone tell me if this will be a problem if I continue to drive it like this for a few months?
Should not be any problem at all. I am upgrading mine to a set of HD 3 inch shafts. If you are interested in mine, they are 2 1/2 inch shafts with solid spicer ujoints with the flange. They ahve about 3K miles on the new ujoints.
