Default 74 rear lights, what's different?

All of the suppliers have bubble lights for all of the years but the 74. Can anyone explain why? And can I modify my car to accept the bubble lights?

Also, anyone have any experience with the blackout kits? How do they install?

on a guess i'd say it has something to do with the two peice rear bumper. looking at your pic it looks like you have a one piece bumper. i've got one on mine from someone changing it somewhere down the line. if so i bet you could order '75 lights and they'd fit. if it's an electrical difference i don't know.

You can't just change the tail light lens on a '74. The lens is part of the tail light "bucket." This was a one year only design.

Does anyone really prefer those bubble lights anyway? I never particularly liked them. But that's just me . I like my 74 lights (and my split bumper :p:)

Not only do I like the look of the bubble tail lights, I think they'd look awesome on a red 74 convertible.

I really like custom and they more sleek and shaved a car is the better (to me).

What about the black out kits, are they cheap? How do they install?
