went out to go for a ride dead batt it was six years old so i got a new one but thay did a test on the old one and said it was just discharged not bad alt is good how do i check for a drain
Take off the positive battery cable and put a 12V test light between the cable and the battery terminal. Make sure the dome light is off. The test light should be off or very dim(because of clock). If light is bright start by disconnecting the alternator, if light goes out you have found your problem. A reversed polarity diode in an alternator can cause a drain but still charge when car is running. If light is still on after you disconnect the alt. ,then start pulling fuses till you find the circuit that is causing the drain. If after pulling all the fuses you still have a bright light then you must check the circuits that are not fused, like the headlamps, starter, ignition switch etc. Hope this helps.
Hey Rusty
If you havnt found your problem with that battery drain, it could also be the interior delay switch that is bad, if you are interested ,I can tell you how to get to it ,its not that hard!!!!!!!
