transmission sticks

I have a 68 with a 4 speed. When going from forward gears to reverse everything is fine. However, when going from reverse to forward gears the shifter sticks, and must be forced over. Any ideas what coul dbe causing this?

Yeah its a linkage problem, had this same thing happen to me a while back, one way to avoid this till you can get at it is to go into second before going into reverse. this clears the muncie and may help in the short run, but you gotta get underneath it to see whats what, then make your adjutsments, and replace the busings on the shifter where the rods connect to the shifter

I just did a linkage adjustment on my 69 and it is a PITA. Make sure the car is nice and cold. I had to wedge my hand between the exhaust and the trans tunnel to get a finger on the linkage itself. Fortunately only one rod needed adjustement and it was the one I could get to.
