pinion nut torque on 80 differential?
I know the preload torque on the pinion bearing is 12 to 15 inch pounds, but what is the actual torque on the nut itself. I have read that it is 250 foot pounds. Can this be right? I need some help if anybody knows, I would really apreciate it. lou

It takes a whole lot of torque to get a new crush sleeve started. Big cheater bar, (at least 250 ft pounds). Once it starts to crush, it drops to maybe 150-200. If you remove the pinion later to replace the seal, be carefull not to pull it tighter and over-preload the bearing. Maybe 60-75 ft pounds with loc-tight?
