A friend of mine was over tonight, and looking at my engine, he noticed the vacuum port at the rear of my Edelbrock 750 carb is hooked up to my PVC on the valve covers, and the vacuum port at the front of the carb is hooked to the reserve vacuum canister. He claims this is backward and the PVC should hook up to the front port, and the reserve tank should be at the rear port. Does this have any affect on performance or operation of the engine? If so, let me know, and I will switch tomorrow, and post results.
"This is no major problem". There, how's that make you feel? I think they are supposed to be the other way around, but don't really know if it'll make any difference or not.
Both the manifold port behind the carb and the port in front at the base of the carb are exposed to full manifold vacuum at all times. Put a vacuum guage on each one. You'll get the same reading. Both of them should be about the same size. Therefore, it doesn't matter which system you plug into either one. Only the NCRS folks would want the routing done the same way as the General did; but, you have an Edelbrock carb, routing shouldn't matter to you. Route those hoses so they are clean, neat, & look good to you.
Thank you friends,
Since it only affects appearance.....I'll change it back later.....Today I'm going cruising.....I'll post later, when I do make the change, and let you all know if the switch made some sort of noticeable difference. :seeya: That Red73 car has a carburator on it just like the one I have on mine......only mine wears sun glasses and smiles alot.... :D
Rod,
Still working on it......I just received The RAM AIR BOX system and will be hooking it up to the Turbo Ducts on the hood.....I'm using the 14"X 3" 80 degree with drop base.....Having some difficulty getting the duct to line up with the Intakes on the hood.....almost there one of the ducts touches the A/C Compressor clutch and rubs when A/C is turned on.....minor adjustments to the hose duct should resolve this glich......will keep you posted on how this system improves the performance.....I also received the BFG Drag Radials from tire rack and have not mounted yet to rims.....so it's a work in progress....Low 12's or high 11's will make me a Happy Cappy
