There are a few advantages to a deep trans pan, here is one of the disadvantages.

Eeep. The oil pan on my car is punched in. I got the car in February and it was like that before so it's nothing I did. I just have to seal the drain plug with Ultra Black whenever I change my oil. I'm going to get a pretty chrome pan within the next few months and will replace it when I get the chance.

It was a small stump a little above ground level in a park. I was just pulling away so it was very low speed. To add insult to injury, my $7 per quart Royal Purple ATF started pouring out and I had to pay $100 to have my car flat bedded home. Not to mention everyone in town that saw it on the flatbed. Anyway, I suppose worse things can happen.
