Fel-Pro One piece oil pan gasket, lost instructions.
I purchased a new Fel-Pro 1 piece gasket kit for my oil pan about a month ago and intended to install it this weekend. Now, the instructions have disappeared. I remember looking at them right after I got it home but I don't remember if I'm suppose to use any gasket compound or not. Or anything else about them for that matter. My kit came with oil pan guides (4) and all the bolts & star washers. Can anyone who has done this installation help with instructions?

Is it the blue rubber one with the metal inserts in the bolt holes? If so, it's just like my valve cover gaskets, and doesn't need compound or anything. The metal inserts are there so you can't over tighten it.

Yes! It is the blue rubber one with the metal inserts. I tend to agree with you but I have this naging notion in my memory about putting a dab of sealent at the ends of the section over the front and rear bearing caps. It just really blows my mind that I don't know the whole installation sequence as well as torquing instructions. Thanks for your reply.

Jack front of car
Bump engine until timing line on damper is facing down (this puts the crank in the proper position)
Remove dip stick (just the measurment stick, not the whole thing)
Disconnect Negative battery terminal
Drain oil and remove oil filter
Remove Starter
Remove clutch cover
Disconnect Idler Arm
Drop oil pan
Clean off old gasket all around
Screw in plastic retaining screws (provided in kit) at for corners of block
Push one piece gasket into place on block, so that is is held up by plastic retainers.
Push pan into place so that it is also held in place by retainers
Install rail bolts torque to 8 lbs/ft
Remove plastic retainer screws and replace with corner bolts Torque to 16 lbs/ft
Reassemle the rest of the car.
Replace oil filter and add oil
Fel-pro says that no RTV is necessary, although some have used it at the corners at the front and rear. I didn't and had no problems.
That's the short version. If you need any further details or if you have questiosn. e-mail me.

I have used three of these and the first 2 didn't mention any sealer. The one I just used last week said to put a dab of sealer in the four points --one each side of where the front cover joins the pan and block and one each where the rear cap joints the block.
