I have a 71 coupe and I think the frame corners are rusted because when it sits out in the rain the floor gets wet. Has anyone ever done this? How hard is it? I used to work in a body shop and I have all the tools. Thanks a lot.
Could be door gaskets and even a porus firewall joint. I had a water leak like that and used some silicone for a quick fix on the top firewall seam and it stopped the leak. That was October 1978.
If the corners are rotted you may be able to repair on the car without welding in new ones. On my 69 each upper corner had about a quarter size hole in it. I cut out the rotted areas and used some .040" sheet metal to fabricate inserts. I welded them in and ground it down and it looks perfect. Painted them with POR15 and top coated them.
