Putting in a new throw-out bearing in my Super T-10 4sp in my '81....
Do these get packed with grease or just a dab where the clutch fork spring touches?
The current one is the one that just sings all the time unless I put some pressure on the clutch pedal. Any ideas as to what is wrong with the bearing? It started doing this after only a very few miles.
This will be the fourth time I have dropped the trans out of this car....I do not want to do this ever again......but am gettting faster at it. Even bought a trans jack this time...should hope it make the job easier....
The only grease that should be used is in the recess of the throw out bearing where it rides along the nose of the transmission bearing retainer. NO grease should go on the face of the TO bearing.

A little is all that is needed. You don't want grease thrown around inside where the clutch is. It works its way to the clutch and that is not good.
The shop manual shows two places for grease- around the outer surface where the clutch fork sits and in a groove on the inside diameter to lube the sliding along the transmission input shaft. Both in small quantities so it doesn't contaminate the clutch.
