Default what do i use........

i got my new GMPP 350 on wednesday and its a little dirty and i want to clean the entire block in and out before i start assembling it and i was wanting to know what i should use to clean it. i bought a bottle of acetone and i was wanting to know if this is ok to use on the block? i plan on using my pressure washer first to get inside and the outside of the block and then my steamer to clean any tight spots then the acetone as a last step to clean before paint and assembly. any suggestions or better ways are welcome.

I think I would use Liquid Green instead of acetone. Get those unpainted surfaces dry and oiled fast after you wash them. Probably lots of opinions on this one.

For the outside of the block, use good ole soap & water, rinse real good a couple or three times. Depending on how bad the outside is, you might need to use a wire brush also. On the inside of the block, use paper towels & tranny fluid. Got to be careful on the inside since you don't want to leave anything in there.

thanks guys i went and got some simple green from the auto parts store today and i will run over to my brothers tomorrow morning and pick up my pressure washer and clean the block and get it ready. i started draining my fluids today to get the old engine out and ready for disassembly so i can pull the parts out that i need and put them on the new block. i will take pictures and find my old thread one my project and update it as i push along on this.
