How to make cut outs in Console?
Recently acquired a mint, original GM console (lower section, gear shift location etc). Underside shows location for power window and rear defroster switches (which I have). The questions is, what is the BEST way to cut out these openings to get the best fit and not ruin the panel in the process? I don't want it snapping/cracking/etc when I cut out for the switches.

A dremel tool with a cutting wheel is the best way I have found, apart from that a hand held plasitc cutter will work but will be a lot more work than the dremel.

Could start by drilling small holes just inside of each corner of area you want / need to cut out. I purchased and used a really sharp 'exacto' type knief, which came with several different blades to cut mine out. I put the shift plate on the kitchen table, with a thick towel under it and went really slowly back and forth along cut line, it took an alfully long time, but I did finally get the job done, was cutting for the power window, and rear window defogger switches as I recall.
Believe the dremil tool would work better, but I didn't have one.
