Default Thermostat question

Tonight after work I'll be putting a new radiator in my 77. I will also change the thermostat. Since my engine is all stock, should I get a stock replacement thermostat, or get a cooler one? Would 160 be too cool? This is a summer car, but sometimes it is quite chilly when I drive it in the spring and fall. Thanks for your help.

180 high flow for the summer and when I used to go out when it was frosty 195.

Chances are your car will run hotter than 180 anyway. So with the higher stat. you get just help keep ware down by getting the car up to temp faster.

Changed out the stock 195 in my '81 for a 160, but that caused problems. Went up to a 180, and all is well. Car runs 180-190 on all but the hottest days.

Go with a 180 degree. It's the best all around and good for optimal performance.

If you try to run a 160 degree thermo on the highway during the winter you are going to be pretty cold.
