I have a 454 in my 68 vert with an electric distributor. The car still has the mechanical tach in it and I don't want to spend the $$ to get all new gauges and don't want to have that ugly dashboard or steering column tach mounted. I've heard a few guys speak of a converter from electric to mechanical so you can still use your stock tach. Is this a myth? If not, where can i find one?
Also where's everyone getting their poly body bushings with hardware?
Thanks

yes it does, just make sure you set it up properly for you motor initial advance, total advance, advance rate.....etc...
I just bought one with Taylor wires (P/N MTR.9200TDR). According to the sales rep he said to set it up just like a points distributor. Is there more to it?
I created a rather helpul install & maintenance tips sheet that I emailed to those who bought an HEI tach drive dist from me. I'm no longer selling the distributors but I'll glady share that info with others at NO CHARGE ... simply email me & I'll attach that MSWORD doc to the return email ... PLEASE put " ? TDHEI Install ? " in subject line of your email to me. And PLEASE ... DO NOT PM me ... use email!
-EDIT- To avoid any confusion ... I am NOT motorville ... nor do I work there ... nor do I have any financial interest in it. Motorville's distributors are like those I sold ... yes 9200tdr is plug n play ... it's just like a 77 vette HEI but it also has a td.
my 71 had a HEI installed already without a tach drive. I bought a used 75 tach (electric) for $65. way cheaper than a new dist. also don,t have to worry about that tach cable that allways seems to give problems.

That's what I did on a '69 that I used to own.. The '75 Tach was a perfect fit and electonic!
I did the same thing on my 502- HEI Dist running a 76 tach innards that I bought on E-bay for $28. No pain in the butt tach cable and no tach drive gears that seem to self destruct w/o warning.
Richard454, can you explain how you hooked up the wiring? And once you bought this used tach did you send out to someone to inspect and change the face or were you able to do that yourself?
You can also transplant the electronic guts from a late 80's camaro tach into your existing tach. Will cost ya less that $25, see one of my old posts for instructions.
