Default Ahhh! Grrr...

F*** me! Why am I such an idiot? I used laytex sealant instead of silicone (looks the same) at the ends of my intake manifold. Of course I didn't realize that as I was doing this, but 7 days later and it's still not dry, hmmm...

My question to all of you, can I reuse my FelPro gasket with the blue bead of silicone? The motor has not been turned on yet (no coolant flow, no oil splash, no heat). But the intake has been torqued down fully. What do you guys think?

And since I'm going to be in there can someone better explain the RTV around the water passages. (Where exactly am I supposed to put it?)

So you guys don't think that the gasket is trash now after torquing it down once?

What about the RTV for the water passages?

Latex is water soluble so those gaskets should clean up very easily. I would not hesitate to re-use them.

So I should put the RTV right on the gasket itself? That won't mess with the thickness and cause the runner ports to leak?

re-use 'em, and smear a thin coat of rtv on the water passages, and around the ports if you feel the need. Do it on the intake side only for an easier removal next time.
