Default Good carb and intake combination

well the 200r4 is on the way. I am now wanting to boost my power up. I want to get a new carb (since the q-jet is almost in the grave.) intake, and a mild cam I am really not trying to do any head work right now, my engine was rebuilt about a year ago by the pervious owner. Can you guys have any suggestions on what a good combination is to get a good performance increase but still get decent gas milege.

i'm no expert but demon carbs seems to be the carb of choice. intake would be the performer rpm by edelbrock. you didn't give aany specifics on your engine but the first improvement would be headers. and personally i would send my q-jet to lars and use it on whatever else.

also. However, if you do decide to change then you might consider the Elderbrock EPS intake, Holley 670 Street Avenger carb and CompCam XE262 cam. This should give you a little more UMPH. Also, Bowtie Tranmissions sells an EZ-TV system (ask for the Holly 4150 model) that make it a snap to hook up your 2004R to the Holley SA carb. However, using this intake/carb combo you'll have to take a close look at the clearance between the carb to vacuum connection located at the rear of the intake. On my 79 I had to use a carb spacer to give enough clearance. I'm also using a dropbase/offset air cleaner base to allow use of a 3"x14" air cleaner to eliminate carb-to-hood and carb-to-HEI clearance issue.

sorry the specs are :L82, headers, flowmasters, 10,000 miles on rebuild, k&n filter. How much of a gain do you think a good carb and intake set up will give me?

About 12-15 HP for intake, though more if Q-J not working properly.
