I'm sure some could give you more specifics, but I would guess with over 3k for the engine, then figure a couple hundred for the miscellaneous (pulleys, belts, brackets, whatever), and maybe a good radiator and/or electric fan while you were at it, and you're in around the 4k+ mark.
It's a prety straight forward swap. Figure around 3k for the motor. Add an additional 500-700 bucks for misc parts including waterpump, gaskets, headers and anything else you might need. As far as labor goes figure on about a full day of labor at whatever rate your mechanic charges. pulling the old motor dosent really take all that long, and dropping in the new really dosent take all that much time, but fine tuning it and being sure everything is hooked up proper takes time. I believe a properly set up shop could do it in 8-10 hours - provided they have all the parts you'll need and no real distractions to slow them down.

Re: ZZ4 Engine Swap (Mike69)
Jegs has the motor for $3400 dollars with $200 delivery (to the Phoenix area, don't know about other areas).
I am also replacing the carb, starter, and the water pump as the same time. You can not use the water pump that comes with the ZZ4 as it is a "long" pump and the Vette requires a "short" pump with a 3/4 inch shaft.
I am budgeting $4200 - $4500 for the motor, the parts, and incedentals for the swap (oil, antifreeze, tools, BEER) and I am doing the swap my self.
Here's what it costs, if you do one of those, "While we're doing this..." installations. You'll notice that there are a lot of things you don't have to do, like the clutch, headers, starter, etc. You can subtract out what you don't want to do and get a good handle on costs. The cost for the engine was about as good as I could get at the time. The other costs are high.
The only thing I was sorry about was that I didn't look real close at the radiator. It was obviously damaged when I recently replaced it and it would have been a lot easier if I'd done it with the engine out of the car.

I just installed a crate motor from scoggins-dickey for $3100.00 in my other toy a 81 Z28. It's not a ZZ4 but the block has the ZZ4 rotating assembly , vortec heads , edelbrock performer rpm intake , GM LT4 HOT CAM , all roller motor. The motor dyno'd at 407hp and 410 ft/lbs of torque. For the price you can't beat the horse power. Would recomend this setup to anyone. My 3850 lbs of car and me ran a 13.66 at 100 mph on street tires. They don't really advertise this to much I guess it would hurt their ZZ4 sales!
I was planning on buying a ZZ4 "sometime"...and procrastinating. One August a.m. in '99 I saw an ad in the Pgh. Post Gazette: "NEW ZZ4 in crate, private party, $2500". I called the guy, he had some projects that he wanted to finish, needed cash. He bought it from "Unis Chevrolet", Aliquippa, Pa. for $2900 through his buddy, who was the Service Mgr. He delivered it to my bud's garage in Edgewood for $50. I'm an old "coupon clipper" and couldn't pass up a bargain. Also, it pushed me into finally getting my BUTT "in gear" and doing the swap...and I've never been happier! :D

I got mine from a neighbor who owns an auto repair shop. Use your network, if you know someone who owns a shop, they might be able to save you a few bucks. The engine comes with a flywheel already. No clutch, I have a T350. Good Luck
