Please Help - Stuck Oil pan
I am in the middle of changing my oil pan gasket. The oil pan bolts have been removed and I lowered the steering linkage. Problem is the oil pan is stuck to the block. I do not want to jam a screwdriver between the block and the pan and I have tried tapping the side of the pan with a rubber mallet. It simply won't budge. Any other ideas? Thanks.

Putty knife is a good idea. Try getting a razor blade in there too, to cut away some of the silicone. In the end your best bet will probably be to get a screwdriver in there and pry it out. I wouldn't worry about the engine,... its cast iron and your not going to damage it. In the event the pan gets screwed up (which I haven't had happen yet) you can always straighten it out after its out of the car or just replace it if it bothers you that much.
