I have new oem door hinges that I would like to install.Do you have to remove the whole instrument panel to get to the drivers side and if so can someone step me through the procedure? Do I have to drop the steering colum etc thanks
Mine cam out after I had removed the whole dash for replacement, so I can't help there, but the steering column did not have to be touched. Be sure to mark where the old hinges were located & keep track of the shims.
I just put new body screws in my hinges. Its pretty easy just reach up under the dash and you will see a little hole were wires are coming though just move them and you will be able to get a socket in there. I didnt have to fix the bottom hinge but i am pretty sure you will just have to take off the kick panel off to get to it.
The vent ***** are linked to their vent, you have to do a bit of disassembly to the mechanism to get the ****/shaft part out, IIRC. The headlight **** is like all GM headlight switches from time immemorial, there is a little button on the switch body. Press it, and pull the **** out.
The kick panel has to come out to get to the inside lower hinge bolts. The door panel has to come off to get to the door side bolts on that hinge. The upper hinge bolts on the door side are under a metal access cover that is not covered by the door panel.
