Default Carb Question...

I have a 350 block .060 over,3.48 stroke W/flat top pistons that now has a Disp. of 360c.i.d. @ 11.2331:1 C.R. A hydraulic lifter cam @ 468/.480 lift and duration @ .050 .220/.231. I have a Edelbrock single plane manifold a 750 c.f.m. holley carb W/mech secondaries and headers. The problem is that I think the carb will be too large, and I was wondering if you guys think it may be poss. to jet this carb down, so that I can still use it. I also have a 3.08 gear W/4 speed. If there is anything else you can see wrong with this setup, please feel free to let me know.

That seems like a lot of compression for that cam. What heads are you running? What type of fuel?

Carb. doesn't sound that bad, except for the mech. secondaries. The singel plane manifold is really not made for the street, either. As I mentioned in another post; deeper gears would be nice. Also, as mentioned in another post, with 64cc heads and flat top pistons... I don't see that kind of C.R.....maybe, 10:1....maybe. Larry

Thanks for all your input Larry. Do you have a way to double check my C.R.? I used the comp. calculator that was on this site a while back, but I agree, something just is'nt right. I really need help on this one, with the selection of a cam being so critical.Anything you or anyone else could do to help me would be appreciated.

p.s. The numbers needed to calculate my comp. are in my other thread "Need help picking a cam"
Thanks to all

Jetting the carb down won't change the cfm of the carb. It will just lean you out and make the carb perform poorly. The stock Q-Jet on your car was 750, so there is nothing wrong with running a 750 mech sec carb. Set it up to its stock specs for the list number, set up the float levels correctly, set your secondary idle to match the primary, and that carb will run just fine - no problem. You can even bump the jetting UP 2 sizes from the stock size for a little better throttle response on your setup.

Hi Lars,
Got the time to check out this thread for me? " need help picking a cam" I can't seem to figure my compression out and the numbers needed to figure the comp. are listed there.
Thanks,
Later,
Sly
