Oil temperature sending unit?
Where's a good location for a oil temperature sender??
I was thinking in the oil pan drain plug, but that would be a pain. Where's a good location to install the temperature sensor?

if you have the pan off, look in there to see where the pump pickup is and have a bung welded in for it on the other side of the pan from it.

I don't really wanna have anything weled on the pan... If I'll install the sensor on the pan, it would be at the drain plug...

On the 82's it's in the other oil pressure port just above the filter I think.

Drilling a hole and welding the bung is the best way. Is pan powdercoated or something? It would take 5 minutes to do. Your engine guy can do it.
Some folks tap into a plug on an oil cooler adapter between block and filter.

I'll see if they could do it.. Why can't I just use the drain plug hole?

It does, but it may be a bugger to get out.

All passenger side dipstick blocks should have a bung next to the filter. Just ask your builder to tap it. It is no big deal.
