Engine had us saying WTF!
Here is the deal. 80 350CI, GM aluminum 58CC Heads 1.94/1.50 valves, Edelbrock Intake, Edelbrock Carb w/ vacume 2nds, Original block. That's all I can confirm at this time.
Knocking sound from engine. Pull #1 plug wire off dist and restart. Sounds and runs the same. Put back on and pull #2 wire off and restart. Sounds the same. Put #1 wire on #2 and #2 on #1, sounds the same.
How could this be? Could all the lobes be off the cam and the valves are not opening enough to make a difference? Next step is check compression but this is just plain weird. Thanks for listening.

There was a kid with a Flat Top when I was growing up. I think his name was Fubba. 
Sorrry, I could not resist.
My son came out to the house tonight and listened to the problem black vette. Took it out for a test drive. Got out with a smile on his face. Opened a fresh brew. Lit up a smoke. Calmly said "Dude, you have a bad header gasket , dirty carb and this thing haules ***"!
I said well since your so smart, why is the Red one such a dog? He then proceeded to remove the air cleaner and said "Dude, get in the car and mash the gas to the floor". Then he opened a fresh brew, lit up a smoke and calmly said, "Dude, your gas pedal rod is bent and you're only running on two barrel's".
Damn, I hate smart *** kids that know everything! What would we do without them.
