I'm on my Dad's computer in Sac CA. I drove down from Bellevue WA yesterday. The weather was in the low-mid 100's beginning in Oregon. I suddenly noticed that I was overheating a bit (about 220ºF) so I pulled off the next exit and came to the stop light. Apparently my brakes were grabbing! This put a load on the engine and caused it to overheat. Anyone else encounter this?
I suspect that the power brake booster filter has been plugged. It looks like someone painted it and there was work done by a couple of shops before I bought the car. My guess is that either someone painted the filter, or someone sealed it up with silicon or something.
another possibility that I have seen quite a bit in the past is the brake hoses deteriorate inside, and starting acting like a check valve, so that once you apply the brakes they don't fully release right away. Sometimes they have to sit a few minutes sometimes a few hours or more. The hoses are pretty cheap to replace, if your's are old you should consider it.
