Default L-48 350

This is in my wifes 73. It's stock except for the Performer intake, holley 650 spread bore and Hedman hedders. I have a set of World Product Torquers/67cc to go on it. I need a recomendation for a cam for this setup. I'm looking at the Voodoo line from Lunati. She wants a near stock idle.

Thanks

Call the head company and get a recommendation, then verify with Lunati.

Clevite P/N 229-2201 .422"/.444" 204*/214* LCL 110*
Elgin P/N E923P .420"/.443" 204*/214* LCL 112*
Lunati P/N 6103 .420"/.442" 204*/214* LCL 112*
SpeedPro P/N CS1151R .420"/.443" 204*/214* LCL 110*
Summit P/N SUM-1102 .420"/.440" 204*/214* LCL 112*
All very small, but an upgrade to L48 that'll make a bit more torque with slightly noticeable change in idle. LCL 110* a bit snappier than 112.
FYI: OE L48 about .390"/.410" 190*/202* LCL 112*

-edit-Comp, Crane & Voodoo go for what now? ... about $90/$100-up? I know where the Lunati is for $39 ... most of the others $40-$50. If you want some more cam (also cost-effective):
Clevite P/N 229-2205 .443"/.465" 214*/224* LCL 112*
Elgin P/N E922P .443"/.465" 214*/224* LCL 110*
SpeedPro P/N CS1013R .443"/.465" 214*/224* LCL 112*
Summit P/N SUM-1103 .442"/.465" 214*/224* LCL 112*

I have a stock 74 L-48 block in mine with SR Torquer heads, Dynomax headers and a Crane Powermax 272 CAM. The cam has a duration of 216 degrees intake and 228 exhaust with lobe centers of 112 degrees. It idles nicely at around 800 rpm and has good overall power. I pull about 15 inches of vacuum at idle. Overall I think its a great street cam.

I would recommend a cam such as the 260H or 268H from Comp Cams. Both have great low-end torque. 260H is closer to your idle target than 268H which is a little lumpy but not too erratic. If even closer to stock idle is preferred, try the 252H grind.

I ran HE260H with my stock L48 heads for 2 yrs. Idles nice and pulls hard. Overall, very nice cam. Made 212 rwhp with crappy stock mufflers and TH400 tranny...

More free advice.....

I dropped similar Torquer heads (76cc) on my '79 L-48, plus flat topped pistons with the Comp. Cams XE262. The dual pattern pulls very well, especially above 4k RPM.

If you want a stock idle I highly recommend something close to the L82 Cam. It's a pretty decent cam with a little lope. That's the one I'm running in my 78. Vortec Heads, Holley Street Avenger 670CC Carb, Hooker Jet Coated Headers, Edelbrock Intake, and new Accel Distributor. Really woke up my L48.
