i did the 700r4 conversion and i sourced my trans and torque converter locally....but the rest of the stuff including a crossmember was like $600...i did not need speedo gears, inspection cover, dipstick, yoke and i did get a new flexplate

so while i can't speak to the 2004r specifically it is in the ball park for an overdrive trans conversion

do not get the inspection cover, supposedly it doesn't fit anyway, just modify yer old one and do not get the yoke, u can get it from yer auto parts for 1/2 the price. i got the new tranny lines, the old ones a lot of us had to cut off and there in no way similar. your price sounds good to me, i bought the level 3 and paid more for shipping. my total was around $2300

I did this exact 200r4 conversion from bowtie on my '71. I opted for the cooling lines and a rear poly mount. Bowtie was great to work with. I did not have to modify the cross member. Drive shaft legnth is the same, you will ned to rebalance with the new yoke. On my install the cooling lines were tight against the tunnel, I changed the transmission fitttings with some elblows and installed steel braided line and then connected to the hard lines.

I wish I could report on how much I like it, but I'm still working on finishing interior update. I seem to be stuck in "While I'm at It"

u didn't have to notch yer crossmember to get to the back bolt on the pan? and why do u have to rebalance your driveshaft? i didn't and it works perfect.

I e-mailed bowtie almost 2 weeks ago asking for every part needed for install on my 79. I have yet to receive a reply from them. I have read alot of people use them but so far for me I am not impressed. E-mail one more time, if I still dont get a reply I will look elsewhere.

Call em up. I made my order and waited almost two weeks. Nothing shows up. Turns out to be some kind of "paperwork mixup".

I had mine done locally $1,600 Including labor. Check with your local shop see what they can do it for you might be surprised.

I see they are recommending the 2200 stall for you too. I went with the 2400 for just a little more kick but still good streetablility.

BTW, if you can find a good 700R4 and money is tight I would consider it. The crossmember mod was no big deal. I'm no Jesse James and it only took me a couple of hours to accomplish.

i went the easy way and it was $170 for a BTO cross member that makes it really easy for my dual exhaust....no more going through things

edit..i have the 700r4

That's about what I paid for the exact same set-up for my 68. Didn't have to do anything to the x member. Had to buy a combination u-joint to fit the yoke to the driveshaft. Cut 3" off the dipstick, bent the cooling lines, modified the supplied tv bracket for the acceleator cable. Swap went smoothly, you'll like the extra gear

I did the TH350 to 2004R conversion on my 79 about 3 weeks ago with a Bowtie level 3. Very straight forward conversion without any issues. Lapse time on the conversion was 3 weekends but actual straight time was probably less than 8 hours due to several brewskies and buddies involved. I also wanted to take my time and make sure I checked every box that Bowtie needed to validate my warranty. The parts list that Bowtie gave ya sounds correct.

Not sure why you would have to change the crossmember or the driveshaft. The yoke and a universal is all you need. Both are standard auto part store items. Mine works great.

I was aable to get the bolt out with a swivel socket. I had new u-joints installed and the drive shaft balanced with the new yoke as long as I had all apart.
