Their response to emails is bad but their telephone support is excellent.
Unless you've got a 153 tooth flexplate don't bother with the torque converter cover (modify the original).

My White 79,
I'm contemplating the same conversion for my 79. I emailed bowtie once with a few questions and NEVER heard back. If you get a list would you consider posting it or maybe emailing me at ccuneo@si.rr.com ? Might save me some aggravation of getting unanswered questions.
Thx ESU

The list that Vetteitup posted is pretty complete. Here's the same list with notes for a TH350 to 2004R swap that I did 3 weeks ago:

Bowtie Level 3 2004R tranny

2400 HD torque converter

Bowtie Crossmember. Probably not necessary but Bowtie's is a simple install and saves some weight.

Auto OD Shifter Kit: Another easy install.

2004R Univ. plastic inspection cover. You'll have to cut to correct fit around the starter.

2004R univeral dipstick & tub: You'll have to cut to correct length. Mine had to be cut 1 1/4".

TV System: you'll need to specify the carb you have. Mine is a Holley Stree Avenger and I used the Holley 4100 series TV system. Another easy install.

TCC Wiring: Use Bowtie's TCC Brake Switch Kit or simple to build your own using Bowtie's wiring schematics and a Bosch relay. Easy install.

Use you existing tranny lines.

Speedometer Gears: You'll need to call Bowtie and give your tire size and rear end ratio.

Using your existing flexplate if it is not bowed or warped.

Install Kit(Pressure Gauge, temp guage and inline filter). This is a MUST if you're going to ask Bowtie for a warranty.

No need to lengthen drive shaft or change tranny yoke when replacing the TH350.

Marshrat, thx for the confirmation, I was asking cause I heard the 79's dont need the crossmember. ALso if buying the tranny from bowtie why dont they already have the brake switch wired in as well as the speedo gears. That should be part of the package.

ESU: The speedo gears are installed into the tranny for you but Bowtie needs to know which ones to install. The tranny IS prewired but you'll need to install a switch to activate-deactivate the lockup. Installing the switch is < 10 minute job.

Rgr that, the speedo gears are installed but you still pay extra for them?

why is there a shifter on that list? does that mean a new shifter cable? why would you need to replace the stock shifter with a stock shifter to make this conversion? (I'm confused)

It's not the shifter itself but the detent plate with the notches for the different gears. You'll have one more notch since you're adding overdrive. Most people put one in so you can use all your gears.

When I did my install I matched the two detents up to each other, wish I would have taken a pic), the distance from P-3 is closer together. The distance from P-1 was the same. I had to rework the neutral safety switch so the backup lights and start positions lined up to the new pattern.

Either buy the conversion kit or file the original. The problem is that you'll need to be precise if you file. The kit is @ a 10 minute job. The hardest part I had was drilling out the factory spot welds.
