Default Vacuum Hose Replacement

I've just bought my heater & a/c vacuum hose kit and got it in the mail yesterday for my 80 coupe. I had several leaks and decided to replace all at once.

Some of the hoses look bigger, are they supposed to be?

Do you have to remove the dash to install the hoses? If so, are there clear instructions on that procedure? If not, how do you?

Also, do you just connect the hoses to the nipples on the back of the heater/ac control that the console rotary goes to and discard rubber rotary? The package didn't come with one.

First time I've done this. Would appreciate any help on the installation of new hoses.

Has anyone done this with the dash installed?

PLEASE HELP!

You might try a Dr. Rebuild kit, they come with correct size and color stripe hoses, fittings, and a diagram specific to your year Corvette.

I have ordered another kit but this time from Dr Rebuild.

Does anyone know the proper procedures on installing them? Remove the dash or not?

What is the easiest way to do it?

Also, the hoses doesn't pull out of the rubber rotary, do I have to buy a new one or just connect to the connections?

Default under dash hose install

I did my vacuum hoses with my dash out.

I am sure you can do the same replacement with the dash still "IN" the car....with maybe a little reaching/lights.

The Doc sends you complete kit with color coded instructions.

Even a monkey er...I mean....

It's SIMPLE!!!

Good luck!

Dave

You can "cheat" by buying some vacuum hose splice nipples and gently pull the under-dash hoses forward at the firewall grommet cut them and splice them there. I have done this in the past and find the hoses inside the Vette are usually in excellent shape not really needing replacement. Then you have enough "correct" coded hose to avoid buying a distributor vacuum advance line kit (Heh Heh!)

i never replaced any,,,but seems to me if you have someone give------------------------------------------------------------ i never replaced any,,,but seems to me if you have someone give a hand and attach a new hose to a old hose and you feed the new while they pull out the old it should go fast,,,like us electricians do everyday with wire and a fish tape!!
