First off hello from overseas. We just left Bahrain.
I'm trying to get my build list together so I can order everything just before I get home. Anyway what started as a weekend TKO swap is going to be a whole rebuild. "If it ain't broke fix it till it is" Engine will be out of the car anyway and it may have never been rebuilt.
I'm looking at Summit # LUN-60103LK
Lunati 1,800-6,200 227/233 duration with 489/504 lift but there are several Comp Cams kits with similar numbers 230/230 D with 480/480 Lift and the kit comes with everything for the top end minus the pushrods. Lots of bad press for Comp cams on the C.F.
Basics L-79 327/350hp, stock heads w/ 202 valves backed with TKO-600 and 370 rear.
I'm sure you & your family are so very anxious have you back home ... but suggest you don't put the cart ahead of the horse (re: rebuild parts) ... suggest you first scatter motor & check & measure all motor stuff before you go ordering internal parts ... you never know what you'll find inside ... good or bad ... that could really make a difference in decisions. You may be anxious to get this motor built so you can go play with it ... but a wrong turn here could nix much vette use before another deployment.
Lunati 60103LK is only cam & lifters ... no springs, retainers, locks, pushrods etc.
Will you run your OE iron heads or aftermarket?
Have you considered a bit more stroke than your 327's 3.25"?
and the first thing you're gonna do when you get home is tear down your whole car and bury your head in the garage for the NEXT 6 months?
my wife would have her whip out.
No actually i'll start the car after the local shows end and it gets cold (<70 degrees). She's going to help me rip the engine out. Were doing this one as a team. She drives the vette to.

Slow down man.
Hello Cali, sounds like u miss the vett so much u can't waite to get back on the wrenches. But take it easy as the cam is really the last item of the short block to order. U really need to measure and calculate the c.r. first as piston dish/dome and decking and boring all gonn'a change c.r.. And u can buy most cams anywhere in the big town in a day or 2.
But u will need dampner puller, torque wrench, engine stand, volumetric beaker and plate (cc heads and piston vol), p-rod length checker and maybe a cam degree wheel with a dial indicator too. How 'bout dampner, motor mounts, trans mount, wiring harness, and even a starter (mini?) or maybe even new batt cables???
Good to hear ur using the original block and heads as that should keep cars value high - and the bragg'n rights too.
Bahrian uh? Ok, i won't jab u with any M. Jackson jokes - as he supposedly lives there now. Wish he'd take his Never-Never land there too. Mybe he'll sell it to the Imarates instead'a our ports.
