New style power steering pump question

Trying to determine if my pump went on my ls1 conversion or a compatibility problem.I was just sitting here wondering if the newer type 1 and type 2 gm pumps are compatible with our older ram and steering control valve.Everything on my steering is stock except for the pump with remote resoviour(sp).It was working fine on my first drive till i got half way home and it started getting tight by the time i made it back to my driveway i lost it completely.Fluids full and no leaks.It was a junkyard pump of a 95 lumina.What do you guys think.

sounds like the pump might have died. Any way to get a pressure tast on it? I think the hose pressure is like 900 lbs so be carefull. Control valve would also be a suspect

Need Jim Shea to chime in. Sounds like the pump will at least have to come apart.
