easy hp
hey, i'm new to this board, my dad owns the vette that i'm looking to work on. he's the original owner of the '78 silver anniversary L-82 4spd. It's only got 11k miles on it and I was wondering if there's anything that could be done to it that could add hp without taking away from the car. It is totally original right now except for straight pipes and a K&N filter. I was wondering if you guys knew any tricks for easy hp? also, what the hell is Zaino. I keep seeing it mentioned all over the place, mainly in the C5 forum. Alright if you guys know any tricks, let me know.

P.S. Any idea of the quarter mile times on this car, it has straight pipes, and K&N filter and that's it....

Re: easy hp (c5vette98)
by "take away from the car" I meant that I don't want to do anything that will classify it as no longer being "all original" I just reread my post and I sounded sorta dumb...oh well

Zaino is a car polish that is highly regarded in CCorvette circles. I have never used it but my father-in-law swears by it and keeps his C5 covered in it :D
Having a 350 means that you have about 40 years of research and parts that can go on your car. To keep it stock looking you could bump up the cam and change the heads, this would give you big increases. I'm hoping to get 80-100HP from a set of trick flow hads and maybe a 262 or 268 cam.
Other things to think about, get a performance intake like an Edelbrock Performer, have the carb cleaned and rebuilt (you can do that), get some headers (Summit has Dynomax Ceramic Coated for $182 until Aug 31st).
There is so much you can do. Spending some time here will help a lot.
