Default convert 79 to 80 rear

Hey I need some help on this one. Do I have to use the 1980 rear bumper support in order to change my 79 to the newer rear on the 80-82 I now they are different but can I just reuse the 79 so I don't have to fight taking it off.
Thanks

Shouldn't have to change anything. I did take off a few parts from behind the 79 cover so that the newer style would fit. I think all that was, like the foam/rubber strip that runs the width of the car, and then the fiberglass mounting pieces for the lights. All that went in the trash, and then the newer one just bolts right up. The hard part is getting the seams and the lines to align right.

I've got one on my 78, the tail lights transfer over if you want to reuse them, you might want to consider molding the bumper in if it doesn't fit quite right. But make sure you do a good job, otherwise it will crack through the paint.

I didn't like the stock tail lights, so i bought the bubble light conversion from ecklers(i think). I think they look better, plus then you have the classic corvette four brake light set-up.

Exactly, plus they would be new, look good, and are fairly cheap.
